Brooklands Museum brings history to The Hub

Katy and Sophie, the Community Engagement Officers from Brooklands Museum, came to visit The Hub on a Thursday evening in March to talk about their new project. Brooklands Stories Uncovered is a storytelling project with an aim of working with communities, exploring the diversity of historic people at Brooklands, and telling their stories so that community partners feel represented and inspired.

The project, launched in 2023, is an exciting opportunity to explore the existing stories of Brooklands’ heyday from a different perspective, recognising previously hidden facets of the lives of Brooklands pioneers, and learning how these helped shape and form their innovations and achievements.

"As part of the Brooklands Stories Uncovered project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Brooklands Museum are coming to share some of their uncovered stories which focus on diverse communities from Brooklands’ motoring and aviation history.

Brooklands Museum will be sharing these stories through historical object handling and fun activities such as making and racing a car!"

This was a massively popular and interactive visit with making aeroplanes and seeing who could fly them the furthest. We are hoping to visit the museum one evening next term. Thanks to Sophie and Katy for visiting and all the effort they put in.
