Saturday 18th April and some of the Hub's volunteers and young people were delighted to again help the Clean Up Claygate campaign. Great work guys!

Last month, The Hub held its first joint Bike and Fabric Repair Cafe. 7 fantastic volunteer repairers saw 25 items and fully fixed 23. Thank you to everyone who attended! Our next Bike and Fabric Repair Cafe will take place on Saturday 16th May, 10am - 11:30am. Bring along any bikes, clothes or soft furnishings in need of a fix, alteration or new part, and our friendly team of repairers will do their best to help you out! On Thursday 26th March, our Thursday night Hub session was transformed into a (silent) disco. The lights were flashing, the music was pumping, and everyone was dancing the evening away. It was a joy to see everyone having fun. We also welcomed over fifty young people to The Hub, our second largest number of attendees ever! Thank you to everyone who supports The Hub for making this possible.

We were invited to an event in Guildford along with 30 other recipients and able to take some of our longest serving volunteers. Today, we're wearing odd socks as part of the Lots of Socks campaign, just like Joseph, one of our awesome young volunteers! Joseph is not only a great volunteer, he's also a Para Commonwealth Gold Medallist in karate and a great role model to us all. Thank you for everything you do for The Hub, Joseph. On Tuesday night, the Thames Valley Morris Men came and taught some Hub members their tricks! Morris dancing is a traditional English folk dance with handkerchiefs and bells. A huge thank you to the Morris Men for coming in! We love when local groups come in to share their skills with our young people.

Thursday was a strike-ing success! 🎉 We had a fantastic evening bowling last Thursday - thank you to everyone who came along and a huge thank you to the 1st Claygate Scouts for lending us a minibus!

A reminder that Sports Drop is back tonight between 6:30pm and 8pm. Sports Drop is a £2, drop-in sports night for Year 6 -8s run by coaches from Platform Sports and hosted here at The Hub. Come along and try out a new sport!

On Friday 30th January, we had the honour of celebrating our very own Elloura who won the Elmbridge Young Person of Honour award for overcoming Personal Adversity. We are so proud of Elloura for this achievement but, more than anything, we're proud of the wonderful young person that she is. Elloura brings so much positivity to The Hub and is an amazing role model. Congratulations! Thank you to Surrey Police and Fearless for organising these awards.

On Thursday, Katie, Andy and Susannah all attended the MHFA England Mental Health First Aid course and are now officially Mental Health First Aid Champions! Thank you to the Grace Dear Trust for sponsoring this training for us. We're looking forward to putting into practice what we've learnt to help support our young people.

Our Wednesday Sports Night has a fresh new name… introducing The Sports Drop! On Wednesdays from 6:30–8:00pm, The Hub teams up with Platform Sports to bring you fun, drop-in sports sessions for Year 6s, Year 7s and Year 8s.  Just £2 on the door  Try something new like American football, bubble football, boxing and loads more! Grab your mates, drop in and get active.

Following on from the success of our Bike Repair Café sessions, we’re turning our attention to fabrics helping you give your favourite clothes and soft furnishings a new lease of life. Bring along any items that need a little love whether it's replacing zips, fixing tears or simple alterations like hemming trousers. By repairing instead of replacing, you’re helping reduce waste and keep textiles

On Saturday, we had a blast at the Claygate Village Association's Christmas Lights Switch-On. Hub volunteers and young people sold cookies, brownies and hot chocolate and our lucky dip was a big success! Last week, some of our Hub members and our amazing kitchen team made and decorated loads of biscuits for the Community Centre's Christmas Fayre. A huge thank you to everyone who got involved with making these! 🍪
