HUB REPAIR CAFE: BIKES AND FABRICS

On one Saturday morning in March, The Hub will be holding its first joint Bike and Fabric Repair Cafe.
Bring along any items that need a little love whether it's fixing bike punctures, darning holes in jumpers or simple alterations like hemming trousers. By repairing instead of replacing, you’re helping reduce waste and keep bikes and clothes out of landfill.

Join us between 10am and 11:30am, and enjoy a warm coffee and a delicious piece of cake.

Basic Repairs

Got a puncture, bike needs an oiling or does your bike need a basic repair? Our repairers will do their best to sort you out!

Check-Up

Just want to check everything's well with your bike? We'll give it a good look.

Diagnostic

Worried if your bike may have a more serious issue? Our repairers can help you work out what's wrong.

Got a rip in your favourite shirt or a moth hole in a jumper? Bring it along for fixing!

Need a pair of trousers taking up? Our volunteers will happily help!

Repurposing

Want to know if there's any way to repurpose an old ripped pair of jeans? Ask for some ideas!

The numbers so far...

In total, across six repair cafes, we have looked at 55 bikes all of which have either been fixed, partially repaired or advice has been given on next steps. Our first Fabric Repair Café also saw to 33 items including blinds, a school jumper and two handbags. We have fixed up one bike which has been donated to a young person.

Our past repair sessions...

On Saturday 17th May 2025, we held our first Bike Repair Cafe! Our four amazing repairers fixed up over twenty bikes and our Hub members got involved helping in the kitchen and lending a hand with repairs. We have since held four more sessions helping people in the community get back on their bikes and teaching young people valuable repair skills.

On Saturday 17th January 2026, was The Hub's first Fabric Repair Café. A fantastic team of volunteer repairers helped over 20 members of the community and saw to 33 different items fixing 20 and offering advice on next steps for the other 13.
