CLAYGATE HUB
BIKES AND FABRIC
Next date:
Saturday 16th May
10 am - 11:30 am
The Hub Repair Cafe first launched in May 2025 initially dedicated only to bike repairs. Since then, we have held several repair sessions with our first Fabric Repair Cafe taking place in January 2026. We now run joint Bike and Fabric Repair Cafes every other month. Our fantastic team of volunteer repairers have seen 113 items in total, fully repairing 87% and partially repairing or offering advice for the remaining 13% of items.

What is a Repair Cafe?
A Repair Café is a community-driven initiative that encourages people to repair their broken items rather than discarding them. It serves as a gathering place where individuals can share skills, tools, and knowledge to fix a variety of items.

What can I bring?
The Hub's Repair Cafe is for both bikes and fabrics. Bring any clothing or soft furnishings needing basic repairs or alterations or any bikes in need of basic fixes, inner tube replacements or check-ups. Please bring along any spare parts such as inner tubes or new zips so our repairers can best help you.

Is there a cost?
All repairs are carried out free of charge but a donation is encouraged to help cover running costs. All donations go back into the Repair Cafe or towards The Hub's youth work.
All items in the cafe cost between £1-£3.

Our past repair sessions...
On Saturday 17th May 2025, we held our first Bike Repair Cafe! Our four amazing repairers fixed up over twenty bikes and our Hub members got involved helping in the kitchen and lending a hand with repairs. We have since held four more sessions helping people in the community get back on their bikes and teaching young people valuable repair skills.

On Saturday 17th January 2026, was The Hub's first Fabric Repair Café. A fantastic team of volunteer repairers helped over 20 members of the community and saw to 33 different items fixing 20 and offering advice on next steps for the other 13.
